Lawyer, doctor, businessman, jeweler? As a young man, Peter Marco never had planned on entering the jewelry industry, however a gem of an opportunity put him on the path to his destiny as one of the premiere jewelers in Beverly Hills and the world.
In 1976 at the tender age of 14, Peter landed a summer job cleaning jewelry laboratories and offices for an influential New York jeweler. This opened his eyes and his heart to the fascinating realm of exquisite gemstones and diamonds, and the affluent lifestyle of both the jewelers themselves and the clients who collected them. Envisioning this life for himself, and being truly enchanted by the beauty and rarity of gemstones. Peter was captivated and did not hesitate to make this life happen. He chose to take night classes to finish school in order to train at the jewelry manufacture during the day!
A quick study with an evident passion for jewelry, Peter was swiftly promoted from cleaner to messenger boy, and spent his off time observing the jewelers work as they cultivated new creations. Within nine months, Peter became a jeweler, working specifically on diamond settings, polishing, and custom jewelry work. Peter knew he has found his calling – he lived and breathed jewelry. He continued working at the jewelry manufacturer until age 17 when he was promoted to the production department. Working in production allowed Peter to expand his knowledge of diamonds and colored stones, serving as the foundation for his career. When he finished school, the owner of the jewelry manufacture rewarded Peter’s hard work and diligence by promoting him to salesman.
With this new position, Peter drove finished product pieces all over the countryside to sell jewelry for the manufacture. He fondly recounts that he drove nearly eleven and a half months out of each year for a total of four years, bringing “jewels from door to door and shore to shore.” By this time, Peter’s vast knowledge about jewelry and the domestic market was unparalleled, so he ventured out of the U.S. to international markets such as Tokyo, Hong Kong, and other parts of Asia. He then made his way onward to Europe. One of the hardest working men in the industry, Peter’s pieces covered the globe; Asia, Europe, Canada, the Cayman Islands, the Caribbean, and the United States.
After years of finding the perfect jewel for others, he finally found his diamond life – his wife and their two sons. They chose to settle down in Los Angeles and Peter’s global experience and expertise made him just the right fir for Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. He was thrilled at the opportunity of working in the industry he loved so much in one of the most preeminent areas for jewelry in the world. In 2008, he named the boutique Peter Marco—after his two sons—his lifelong dreams had come true. His gorgeous boutique and flourishing business is thanks to his years of dedication and drive, his passion and contagious energy; he IS a rare gem himself, Peter is the jewel of Beverly Hills.
